Have a party!
Who doesn’t love a backyard barbecue or 
a block party? The days are long and the evenings are warm! Invite your neighbors, open the doors and let everyone know that the house is available! Your neighbors may have friends looking to buy! And the idea of choosing their new neighbor will make people much more interested! It’s a great way to get the word out about your home for sale. A party sends out positive, relaxing energy and makes people feel at home. It’s a lot less stuffy than a traditional open house. What’s more, if the members of your neighborhood form a close-knit community, throwing a party can be a great way to spend one last good time with your neighbors, which is a good way to say goodbye. Have a barbecue outside and welcome everyone into your home!
What should you eat?
There are tons of easy and unique things you can prepare.
If you’re holding a backyard party, it’s the perfect time to use the barbecue. People will feel like they’re having fun and hanging out with their friends in their own (new) backyard. By creating a pleasant, relaxed environment, they can imagine themselves entertaining their friends right here.
If you’re organizing a more traditional open house, consider serving cold drinks and appetizers. Nothing should be too heavy or difficult to eat. Also, you don’t want anything messy to spill on the entrance carpet. Serve lemonade and watermelon salad in the courtyard, or one of our favorite bites,
the caprese skewer. (Just make sure it’s not left in the heat for too long). Nothing you serve should be perishable. People don’t get sick at a successful open house!
Show off your yard!
Even if your patio is small, people like to be outside. If interior design is not to be neglected, neither is the yard! You’d be surprised how much lightness a few flowers can bring to a dull, dreary place. If you have a larger area that’s rather unoccupied, you might want to get a few things to make your yard a place where people will want to gather. This could be a hammock, a set of comfortable chairs or a water feature. If you live in a family-friendly neighborhood, add something fun for the kids. (Make sure the sales contract specifies whether these items will come with the house or not, so there’s no confusion).
Declutter
The best advice for any open house, whatever the time of year, is to declutter. You want people to have fun and relax in your home. If people find themselves in the middle of your personal belongings, they won’t feel as if they’re in their own space. And that’s what you want… for them to feel instantly at home. Remove the family photos and put away the paperwork on your desk. Replace photos with interesting works of art and more neutral objects.
